The Tides are Changing

Well… good news everyone. Stable disease again… woohoo! Ideally we would have loved to have seen shrinkage, but hey, I am not going to be greedy at this point. Slow and steady wins the race… right?

The scan showed basically no change in the size of the tumors and no new sites of disease. The uptake numbers were higher, but they also used a new PET scan machine which “may be accounted for by the differences in scanners”.

Overall, it’s a win. Next steps??

Well Dr. Miklos recommended a new drug combo Revlimid + Rituxan, which is a pill and an IV infusion. It could help, but no guarantees. Side effects are fatigue and blood clots… sounds fun.

Or I could continue to do “nothing”. And I say “nothing” meaning no new drugs, because believe me, I have definitely been doing a lot of things over the last two months. The scale is 15 pounds lighter to prove it.

So I have some decisions to make and will consult with Dr. Rosenthal at Mayo to get her opinion as well, but honestly I am leaning toward this natural way of healing. I am hoping that what I am doing is going to wake my immune system up and get it working correctly.

This is a quick post because we are on a plane back to Tucson, but I wanted to let everyone know just how grateful we are for the positive news.

We go back in three months for another scan… so essentially I just got three more months of normal and I am super happy about that!

Happy holidays to everyone and I wish you all good health, grateful hearts, and an abundance of love this Christmas.

Onward and upward!!
